The folks working with data
We each play a part in WSU’s data landscape.
There are many roles that work with data at WSU. Below is a general summary describing those roles.
Role descriptions
| Role | Description |
| Data Trustee | A leader in the organization who assumes final decision-making authority (i.e., accountability) for a data domain. |
| Advisor | A business or technical leader who contributes insights and strategy to ensure strategic decisions are made in the interest of their area and the enterprise as a whole. Participates in the council on an as-needed basis to represent their specialty. |
| Data Steward | A functional resource who is responsible for ensuring that the data for their respective data domain meets the requirements of the institution. |
| Data Custodian | A technical resource who is responsible for ensuring that one or more systems support the functional requirements as defined by the Data Steward. |
