Labor Market Information

Support your Programs with Labor Market Insights

Make informed decisions about your programs.

The Office of Institutional Research offers program insight reports to assist campuses, colleges, and units with program consideration, new program proposals, or to review their existing programs. These reports utilize real labor market insight to connect WSU’s programs to Washington’s workforce, helping our programs remain relevant, competitive, and impactful.

New Programs

Whether you’re ready to propose a new program or just starting to explore new ideas, it’s critical to know if there is real demand for the program from both prospective students and employers. By leveraging labor market data, we can provide an evidence-based picture of that need by:

  • Benchmarking prospective enrollment against regional, state, and national program competition.
  • Exploring the program’s occupation map for prospective graduates, including job growth and wage expectations.
  • Reviewing real job postings data to identify major hiring companies and to capture current trends for in-demand job titles and skills.

Existing Programs

Even long-established programs benefit from regular review to maintain their alignment with workforce trends. Labor market data can examine a program’s alignment market demand and highlight opportunity for program expansion or revision by:

  • Assessing how program graduates align with occupation demand, wage trends, and in-demand skills.
  • Benchmarking program completions against regional, state, and national peers to identify growth opportunities.
  • Identifying emerging occupations or job titles that may inform curriculum updates, new tracks, or program redesigns.
