The folks working with data

We each play a part in WSU’s data landscape.

There are many roles that work with data at WSU. Below is a general summary describing those roles.

Role descriptions

RoleDescription
Data TrusteeA leader in the organization who assumes final decision-making authority (i.e., accountability) for a data domain.
AdvisorA business or technical leader who contributes insights and strategy to ensure strategic decisions are made in the interest of their area and the enterprise as a whole. Participates in the council on an as-needed basis to represent their specialty.
Data StewardA functional resource who is responsible for ensuring that the data for their respective data domain meets the requirements of the institution.
Data CustodianA technical resource who is responsible for ensuring that one or more systems support the functional requirements as defined by the Data Steward.
